Five children have been reportedly killed in an inferno which occurred in Mpape community, in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The victims were said to have been burnt to death after fire gutted their apartment on Saturday. According to PunchMetro, there had been sparks on the electric cables in the area after power was restored by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). The sparks were said to have triggered a fire, which ravaged the victims’ parents apartment. The children got trapped in the house and burnt to death. Residents said they could not save them because there was no water in the community. The district head of the community, Alhaji Abubakar Gimba, told Ezeja.com, an online news site, that before the children could be brought out, they were already dead.  “We rushed to see how we could put out the fire, but before we could do that, the five children were already dead,” he said. Stop the hating!: 5 reasons why TBoss will most likely win #BBNaija

Image
This post by  Segun Odejimi appeared first on TNS.ng. Read and let's know if you agree with Segun: Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of TBoss noise going around. It is either from those who think TBoss is the greatest thing that has happened to Nigeria after the oil boom, or it is from those who think she is a modern day Delilah who shouldn’t even be allowed to breathe. Whatever you think of her, though, you cannot erase the fact that she has found her way to the finals of Big Brother Naija (#BBNaija), a competition which has equally divided opinion among the hypocrites, not-so-hypocrites and the die-hard fans. During her stroll to the finals, I have read several ridiculous theories about how she is dating Big Brother, how the whole world hates her (I even saw a video on that! SMH), how every man she kisses on the show gets evicted and so on. Let me put it on record here that I also do not like her personality a lot. If we were going by personalities, Efe w

Meningitis outbreak is God's way of punishing Nigerians for fornicating - Zamfara state Gov. Yari

Image
Zamfara state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, has attributed the current meningitis outbreak in some states in the North to God's anger on the people of the region for engaging in fornication. According to Yari, because people have refused to stop their nefarious activities, God decided to send Type C virus of the disease which has no vaccination. Over 300 people have died since the outbreak of the disease. Yari said this Tuesday when he spoke with state house correspondents after his meeting with  President Buhari in Abuja state villa. He said: "What we used to know as far as meningitis is concerned is the type A virus. The World Health Organisation, WHO, has carried out vaccinations against this type A virus not just in Zamfara, but many other states. However, because people refused to stop their nefarious activities, God now decided to send Type C virus, which has no vaccination.  People have turned away from God and he has promised that ‘if you do anyhow, you see anyhow

Man shares inspirational story of how he sponsored an orphan he met during Youth Service through University

Image
Facebook user, Emeka Nobis, took to his page to share his inspirational story. Read below:  "I served my fatherland after university in Omagwa, Rivers State. I taught Physics and Mathematics to SS 3 students of Community Secondary School, Imogu. That was where I met Wali Endurance. I passed out in 2005.  He is the kind of student a teacher would love to have. Punctual, obedient, and enterprising, he became a student I loved.  He won my heart when he promised me never to fall to the temptation of exam malpractice. Imagine a situation where your mates were allowed to cheat because their parents pay mercenaries or put them into special rooms.  I returned to Omagwa in 2011 to learn that NC couldn't go to university because no one could sponsor his education after the death of his parents.  My wife and I decided there and then to take on the responsibility. It wasn't rosy all through, having to pay fees, doll out feeding allowances and monies for books and others. I

A state High Court sitting in Ikere Ekiti  on Monday  awarded a sum of N20m damages against the Ekiti State Police Command for illegal detention and brutalization of a 51-year-old woman. The presiding Judge, Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi, also awarded another N250,000 cost against the police to cover the medical expenses of the woman as a result of the unlawful detention and beating she suffered in detention. Photo: Woman arrested for aborting her third-trimester fetus

Image
A 43-year-old woman in Virginia has been charged for allegedly aborting her third-trimester fetus and burying the remains in her back yard. Michelle Frances Roberts was indicted by a jury in Chesterfield County on a felony charge of producing an abortion or miscarriage with the intent to destroy her unborn child. Police said they received a tip in February 2016 that human remains were buried in the back yard of a home in the 6200 block of Philbrook Road. Investigators later contacted Roberts, who confirmed their report. Forensic investigators later excavated a small area of the yard where they found the fetal remains, police said, adding that they had been disposed of roughly six months earlier. Police determined that Roberts had the abortion during her third trimester, but it was unclear how the procedure was performed. Roberts, who was arrested last Wednesday, remains held in a jail in Chesterfield County. A status hearing on her case has been scheduled for April 24. Source: Rich

Bag of rice to sell for N10k in June – Rice farmers

Image
Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, RIFAN, has said that in June 2017, a 50 kilogram of rice bag will sell at N10, 000. Speaking extensively on the current development in the rice industry, Aminu Goronyo, the national president of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), told newsmen that rice farmers now have direct access to fertilizer. 'Fertiliser was a very big challenge, but today it has become a history. We have signed MoU where the fertilizer is sold N5, 500 per bag of fertilizer, and is now a government policy. We have more fertilizer in the country and go direct to the hands of the farmers and is everywhere in the country.  'We have already achieved rice sufficiency in the last two years because all the rice we eat is grown here in the country. With the government through the Nigeria Customs Service on the land borders, including the high exchange rate no importer can go to other countries and import rice for profit. I assure you in the next three month

Dear Yemi Alade, is it official with Taiye Aliyu now? (photos)

Image
For years, there's been rumors that Yemi Alade's manager, Taiye Aliyu also doubles as her bae but they've managed it to keep it under wraps. Sources in the industry swear that their relationship is rock solid. Truth is, Taiye has been grooming Yemi Alade for over a decade now, way before her song 'Johnny' became a hit song, but he's managed to stay behind the cameras, except when necessary.  But lately, there's been a wave of PDAs that's quite suspicious and unusual. They are currently on a trip to Paris, France and the photos from this trip are close to 'Pre-wedding' photos or maybe they are just having fun or trying to pass a message? Either way, we got our eyes on you.
