One dead, one in coma, several injured following accident

Two accidents on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway Sunday led to the death of a driver while several were injured, one of whom is presently in a coma. The first crash which occurred at Ibalex Bus Stop, Ilasmaja between the early hours of 4 and 5 a.m. was as a result of a collision between a gravel-laden truck and a trailer carrying oil, while the second accident was between a Volkswagen commercial bus and a truck at the exact same spot. In the first accident, 4 people were injured when the truck conveying gravel hit the trailer loaded with oil. The trailer was marked KY153YTK; there were no numbers on the truck. The truck driver and motor-boys were said to have been trapped inside the vehicle for over 30 minutes before they were rescued and the injured were conveyed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). The truck driver was unconscious at the time they were taken to the hospital. There is no information yet on

Lagos State Government seals off Tony Rapu’s church

The Lagos State Government has allegedly approved the sealing of a Lekki-based Church, christened ‘The Dome’ in Lekki Phase 1, for violating building regulations. The church which is headed by popular pastor, Dr. Tony Rapu. According to a statement by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Anifowoshe Abiola, the owners of the church contravened the Lagos State Regional and Urban Planning Law 2010 by building without title documents and necessary building permits. The commissioner stated that the church had no Planning permit to construct the building adding that the fence of the church fence was in the right of way of Freedom Road (which is currently under construction) and also directly under the high-tension wires. Man allegedly murders his wife in Ikorodu

The police in Lagos are currently on the trail of a man identified as Omolaja Shodipo who allegedly murdered his wife and fled their home in Ikorodu yesterday April 24th. According to neighbors, Omolaja had a disagreement with his wife on Sunday April 23rd and the disagreement continued into yesterday and he physically attacked her killing her in the process. The man upon seeing his wife had died, began to cry, scream and roll on the floor. As his neighbors moved to his house to inquire why he was crying, he fled the scene and has not been seen or heard from. When the neighbors went into his house, they found his wife and mother of his four children on the floor in the pool of her blood. They also found an axe close to the deceased. However the axe had no blood stain on it. The police men at Owutu police station were invited and the remains of the woman was taken away and deposited at the General hospital morgue in Ikorodu. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it has organised a manhunt for a Lagos socialite and suspected drug baroness wanted in connection with cocaine trafficking. The suspect, Fumilola Arike Ogbuaya, also known as Arike Fumilola Ogundipe, allegedly was involved in smuggling 1.595kg of cocaine from Murtala Muhammed International Airport to Saudi Arabia in February 2017. A statement issued by NDLEA spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju said the agency is also investigating Mrs. Ogbuaya’s multi-billion naira assets, allegedly the proceeds of drug sales. The anti-narcotics agency commenced investigation into Mrs. Ogbuaya after arresting one Odeyemi Omolara Morayo, also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi, for drug trafficking. Investigation into Mr. Morayo implicated Mrs. Ogbuaya, according to the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport. He said that the NDLEA then invited the Lagos socialite in for questioning to no avail. Deputy Senate leader, Bala IBN Na'Allah, senator representing Kebbi South, has taken over the immediate medical treatment of the newborn baby who lost a limb at Zuru General Hospital. A team from the senator's office arrived Danko, Danko Wasagu LG  on Monday  and took the baby and the mother to the Federal Medical Centre in Benin Kebbi.

Autopsy says Isiaka Adeleke died from painkiller overdose

The cause of senator Isiaka Adeleke's death has been made public. According to pathologists who carried out an autopsy on him before he was buried, the senator reportedly died of overdose of painkillers.   The lifeless body of Adeleke was returned to LAUTECH Hospital, Osogbo, for an autopsy after his sudden death at the hospital  on Sunday .  Reports that followed his death was that he had died of cardiac arrest, but the indigenes of his home town, Ede, insisted that they wanted to know the cause of his death on the assumption that his death was not natural.   According to Sahara Reporters, the politician did not die of poisoning but as a result of an overdose of painkillers intravenously administered on him.

USD should stay weaker for the next few days

From time to time we get opinions from the Trump's administration that the strong USD is becoming a huge problem for the American companies and economy as overall. With those comments, some experts started to doubt the current interest rises path. This eases the buying pressure on the USD and creates a mid-term correction movements on many pairs. On the EURUSD, the price defended the lower line of the wedge formation (green lines). Wedge generally suggests that the price will decline in the long-term but this defence (yellow) gives buyers hope and an occasion for the mid-term upswing. The closest target for now is 100 pips away (orange, 1.085) and looks very strong. It is a combination of the horizontal resistance and the long-term down trendline (blue). This allows us to think that this resistance will be very hard to break. Long-term sentiment has to stay negative for a while. National Youth Service Corps member, Toritseju Lodge, who was shot dead last Monday, in Oghara, has been laid to rest. Late Lodge, until his tragic death was serving in Imo State but returned to Oghara,  Delta State for the last Easter celebration. He was reportedly with friends when masked gunmen arrived and shot him dead. According to a family source, while his parents lived in Sapele,  he rented an apartment in Oghara. So when he returned for the Easter celebration, he chose to stay there. "He was standing outside that night with a teenager at about  11p.m , checking his phone when the gunmen suddenly emerged and shot him thrice" the source disclosed. "They took his mobile phone, removed the SIM and took memory cards before destroying the phone and disappearing into the night." he added.

Ogun State Governor, Governor Ibikunle Amosun,  on Monday , rescued Ms Idia Babalola, an aide of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Commissioner nominee in Osun State from an angry mob at the premises of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke. The crowd of sympathisers became restless when Babalola, a former Special Adviser to Governor Aregbesola, came in for the Islamic prayers ahead of the internment of the two-time Senator and first elected governor of Osun State. Angry sympathisers demanded that Babalola be made to leave the premises. When pleas from dignitaries at the event, including Ondo State Governor, Mr.Rotimi Akeredolu, failed to persuade the angry crowd, Governor Amosun had to join some other dignitaries in personally shielding the lady and leading her out of the premises. According to TMZ, a divorce petition was filed last week but it is unclear who filed for the divorce. The split is said to be 'amicable.' The last time the couple was photographed together was at the Art Los Angeles Contemporary 2016 Opening Night at Barker Hangar on January 28, 2016 in Santa Monica, California. Jesse made headlines in 2016 with a politically charged speech at the BET Awards in Los Angeles. During the speech, he thanked his 'amazing wife who changed his life'. The couple have two children together, son Maceo, aged one, and daughter Sadie, aged three.

Heavy rainfall causes building to collapse, killing mother and son in Nassarawa state

e A mother and her son lost their lives last Sunday after their house collapsed on them during a heavy downpour in Keffi in Nassarawa state. According to reports, the rainfall started midday and lasted into the nights. The remains of the deceased have been buried according to Islamic rites.
