14 year old boy graduates from Texas University

A 14-year-old physics major, Carson Huey-You, has become the youngest person ever to graduate from Texas Christian University. Huey-You was among more than 2,000 students getting degrees Saturday at the Fort Worth school. He started at Texas Christian University (TCU) in 2013 when he was 11 and graduated last Saturday . Huey-You also has minors in Chinese and math. Huey-You said his favorite thing about college was getting to learn things he never thought about, things he never knew existed and things he might not even think about thinking about. Adding that he's learned how to deal with "some real hard classes" and get over the disappointment of a poor score on a test. The self-described "normal dude" said he wants to work on getting graduate degrees in quantum mechanics. Source: Star-Telegram

President Trump and his wife, Melania arrived in Saudi Arabia a few minutes ago and were both welcomed at the Royal Terminal by King Salman. It's Donald Trump's first trip abroad since he became president in January 2017. During his two-day visit, Trump is expected to announce a $100 billion-plus arms deal with Saudi Arabia as evidence of a renewed commitment by the United States to the security of the Gulf region. He'll also deliver a speech to call on the Muslim world to unite against extremism and terror.

90 Nigerians deported from South Africa

The South African government have deported 90 Nigerians for committing immigration-related offences. The deported Nigerians who are all males, arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in a South African airways aircraft at about 3pm today. Some of the deportees were alleged to have been staying in the country with illegal documents.

Acting president Yemi Osinbajo orders resumption of 24 hour operations at Apapa port

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has directed the resumption of 24-hour operations at the Apapa port and outrightly banned touting by officials or unofficial persons at any port; be it air, land and sea ports in Nigeria. Prof. Osinbajo had  on Thursday  signed three Executive Orders dealing with the business environment, local content in public procurement and timely budget submission. The Orders take effect immediately. The Acting President said in the Order that, ``the Apapa Port shall resume 24-hour operations  within 30 days  of the issuance of this Order and there shall be no touting whatsoever by official or unofficial persons at any port in Nigeria.’’ According to the directive on port operations, ``on duty staff shall be properly identified by uniform and official cards while off duty staff shall stay away from the ports except with the express approval of the agency head. 21-year-old son of NNPC GMD, Maikanti Baru collapses, dies while hiking in Dubai, has been buried

The son of the Group Mnaging Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr. Maikanti Baru has passed away. The 21-year-old Mohammed Kawu Baru, an Architecture student at American University, Sharjah, died in Dubai on Thursday evening, May 18, while hiking. According to reports, the young man collapsed and died while on University organized hiking exercise in Fujairah. He was buried at the Sharjah Emirates Cemetery. Maikanti Baru, accompanied by Ambassador Nura Rimi and hundreds of members of the Nigerian community in UAE, attended the burial.

Fathia Balogun leads 12-man burial committee for late Moji Olaiya

Plans are already in motion to ensure that Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya who died of cardiac arrest two months after child birth is given a befitting burial. It's not been announced if she'll be buried in Canada where she died or her remains will be brought back home, but a 12-member burial committee has just been announced led by veteran actress, Fathia Balogun.
