To commemorate the 2017 Workers day, the Federal government has declared Monday, May 1st as public holiday. Minister of Interior Affairs, Abdulrahman Dambazzau announced this in a statement released by the Director, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Muhammadu Maccido. Dambazzau congratulated Nigerian workers for their resilience, hard work and commitment to the present administration despite current challenges. He urged workers to continue to support the Buhari-led administration.

32-year-old Liezel Betitta has been arrested for cutting off her husband's penis with a pair of scissors because she was convinced he was having an affair. She believed he was sexually involved with a friend's wife at a building from where he worked in Iloilo City, the Philippines so after her husband, Mark, went out drinking with friends after work then fell asleep at a friend's house, Liezel went over there and found him. Mark was roused from sleep by the pain after Liezel grabbed his manhood and sliced it off two inches from the base. The incident happened at about  10:30 pm  on April 22 and Liezel fled the scene immediately her mission was complete.   As blood gushed from Mark's wound, his friends took him to the Jesus Colmenares Memorial Hospital in the Balasan Town district, several miles away. Cambodian actress, Denny Kwan, has been banned from working in the entertainment industry for a year, over her Facebook posts that was deemed too raunchy. The 24-year-old actress who has starred in several movies and music videos was banned by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts’ disciplinary council for failing to keep a written promise to dress in a less sexy way. In May 2016, she was ordered to be 'educated' by the ministry about her clothing after raunchy photos of her went viral. In a statement released through The Phnom Penh Post, the chief of the disciplinary council, Chamroeun Vantha, said that the council members decided to punish Denny Kwan by not allowing her to take part in any activities in the entertainment industry for one year, such as filming, karaoke and singing performances on TV after she violated the code of conduct of artists in the country. Authorities in India have banned 22 social media sites in an effort to calm tensions in a disputed region, after videos depicting the alleged abuse of Kashmiris by Indian forces fueled protests. The government said that the one-month ban was necessary for public safety because social media was being "misused by anti-national and anti-social elements. It's being felt that continued misuse of social networking sites and instant messaging services is likely to be detrimental to the interests of peace and tranquility in the stat". An official with Kashmir's state-owned telecom company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., said engineers were still working on shutting down the 22 sites, including Facebook and Twitter, but so far had been unable to do so without freezing the internet across the Himalayan region. Meanwhile, 3G and 4G cellphone service has been suspended for more than a week, but slower 2G service is still available.
