The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied the allegation from former Nigerian first lady Patience Jonathan that it is using its operatives to harass her. @Glamour Signature Mrs Jonathan last week, sent a petition to the House of Representatives in which she accused the NDLEA, EFCC and other security agencies of harassing her. In a statement released yesterday, the spokesperson of NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, described the allegations as spurious and misleading as she was not being investigated by the agency. “The NDLEA, as a reputable agency of government, does not harass. Rather, it takes appropriate action against anyone or group of persons who contravene the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2001. The management of the University of Lagos UNILAG, has dispelled rumors that it has plans to review upwards the fees being paid by the school. According to reports, the suspects were brought from Lagos to Abuja last Monday by men of the IG Intelligence Response Team to ensure unhindered and thorough investigation into their criminal activities. Sources said Evans was kept at the ‘VIP wing’ of the police cell at the FCIID, Abuja, where other notorious crime suspects were being held. It was gathered that security had been beefed up at the detention centre since the crime kingpin was brought to the cell. A source said more police operatives were deployed in and around the facility to prevent any security breach and to safeguard all the detainees. Police investigators did not restrict access to the suspect in order to profile those visiting him and establish the link between them
